taperjeangurl:

When I was little there was a puppy store that I would make my mom take me to and in that puppy store was a cute little Corgi, I named her Vada (after my favorite character from my favorite movie, My Girl). My grown up self does not approve of puppy stores because they are cruel, but 9 year old Becca did not know this and I would beg my mom to take me to the Puppy Patch. I spent one whole summer loving this dog and begging my mom and dad to buy her for me. Yes, we had a dog (who was the BEST dog in the world) but she wasn’t like this cute little Corgi.

One day when I went back, the woman who worked at the store looked at my mother and then at me. I knew what she was saying. Vada had been sold. I tried to keep my eyes from tearing up but I couldn’t help it and my mom tried to make me feel better but nothing would do. I remember that night when I was in bed I cried quietly to myself. To this day I still haven’t gotten over Vada. I often think of her cute little ears and clumsy little puppy walk, and a little tear forms in the corner of my eye. I know she went to a good home but I would have been the best puppy mommy in the world. Cause you know, Vada, she was my girl.
