How to Train Loose Leash Walking

The dog's leash should always be loose rather than pulled tightly to the end.

Does your dog drag you down the street when you try to take him for a walk? Does your dog yank and pull when she sees another dog? Walking your dog is much more enjoyable when he stays beside you, walking along with a loose leash.  Some dog owners give up walking their dogs because the dog is so difficult to keep under control. Try these tips on teaching loose leash walking to your dog.  This method is not for a strict heel position like you would need in an obedience trial but for a leisurely walk with your dog.
